Asa J. Clearwater, 62, son of the late Thomas and Amanda Silkworth Clearwater, died suddenly yesterday afternoon while chopping wood at this farm on the Mossy Brook road in High Falls. Mr. Clearwater had been a life long resident of High Falls where he was engaged in farming.

Coroner Arthur H. Chipp of Kerhonkson was notified and conducted an investigation. He reported death due to natural causes. Dr. Anthony Tocco of Stone Ridge was summoned and pronounced Mr. Clearwater dead from natural causes.

Surviving is his wife, Cristella Stokes Clearwater, and several nieces and nephews. The remains will repose at the family residence until Friday when funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. from the High Falls Reformed Church. The Rev. Garrett Timmer, pastor of the High Falls church, will officiate. Burial will be in Coxen Cemetery, High Falls. Bearers will be nephews of the deceased.
