Ellendale, N.D. ---Mrs. Harold (Dorothy Elizabeth-Watson) Schweitz, 62, Ellendale, N.D. , died Sunday, Oct. 5, 1986, at St. Luke's Hospital, Aberdeen, of natural causes.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. Wednesday until 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Holte Funeral Home, Ellendale, N.D.
There will be a graveside service at 2 p.m. Thursday at Ellendale Cemetery with the Rev. Scott Engelhart officiating. Burial will be in Ellendale Cemetery.
Dorothy Elizabeth Watson was born Sept. 23, 1924 to Clara Louise (Keller) Watson and James Bird Watson at Monango, ND. Dorothy was the youngest of 9 children ( the twins-Edward and Edwin died within a week of birth) leaving 7 siblings.
On December 16, 1944 Dorothy married Harold Herbert Schweitz, the love of her life, in Ellendale, ND. During the early 1950's , Dorothy and Harold moved to Ukiah, California, where Harold worked at an auto body shop. On June 16, 1956 Dorothy and Harold were blessed with their son Steven John Schweitz. In 1958 the Schweitz family returned to Ellendale where Harold opened his own auto body shop. Dorothy worked in the Steinwand Cleaning Business. In 1973 Harold sold his auto body shop and they moved to Dickinson, North Dakota, where they purchased a book and magazine store. In 1983, they returned to Ellendale where Dorothy, Harold and Steven opened a shoe repair shop. In 1985, Dorothy and Harold managed a local motel for one year.
Survivors include her husband, Ellendale, ND; one son, Steven, Ellendale; two sisters, Mrs Ralph (Hazel) Hartley, Garden City, SD and Mrs. Clifford (Laura) Hay, Bovey, Minn; and 1 grandchild.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; Clara and James Bird Watson, five brothers and one sister.
