Rites Held for Clara Watson, 93.

Services were held August 24 at the Nazarine Church at Ellendale, N. Dak. for Mrs Clara L. Watson, 93, who passed away August 21 at a Watertown hospital. Mrs Watson has made her home with her daughter, Mrs Ralph Hartley at Garden City, since January 30, 1976. Mrs Watson had been ill but a few days prior to her death.

Rev. George Johnson officiated at the service, and interment was in the Monango Cemetery. Organist at the service was Mrs George Johnson of Ellendale, N.Dak., and soloist was a granddaughter, Clara Matheis of Akron, Ohio.

Serving as pallbearers were grandsons Pat Hay of Brandon, Lavern Watson of Great Falls, Mont., Robert Watson of Kent, Ohio, and Steven Schweitz of Dickenson, N. Dak,. and Grandsons-in-law, Vincent Flanigan of Redfield and Roy Palmer of Lake Norden.

Clara L. Watson was born April 3, 1884 at Elkhorn, Wis., the daughter of Irene and Herman Keller.

When she was two months old, her mother brought her to their farm near Monango, N.D. and she spent her childhood in the community. She was united in marriage to James Bird Watson at Ellendale, N.D. on August 22, 1906. Mr. Watson ran a dray line at Monango for many years. In the spring of 1916 they moved to a farm near Ellendale where she lived until 1945. At that time she moved to Ellendale to reside, and it was here that she suffered a stroke on November 11, 1975.

Mrs. Watson made her home with her daughters, Laura and Dorothy, until January 30, 1976 when she came to Garden City to reside with her daughter, Hazel.

Survivors are a son, Byron Watson of Garden City; four daughters, Mrs Clifford (Ethel) Abrams of Interior, Mrs. Ralph (Hazel) Hartley of Garden City, Mrs. Clifford (Laura) Hay of Bovey, Minn., and Mrs. Harold (Dorothy) Schweitz of Dickinson, N. Dak.; 30 grandchildren; 66 great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, four sons, her parents, a sister and a brother.

Following the service family members gathered at the Hay farm at fullerton, N.Dak. for lunch. Relatives attended the service from Bovey, Duluth,and Maple Grove, Minn., Owassa, Okla., Akron and Kent, Ohio, Bismarck, Monango and Fullerton, N.Dak., California, Florida and Rapid City, Interior, Lake Norden, Brandon, Garden City, and Redfield in South Dakota.
