Edward R. Bowles, of Clark's Hill, formerly of Lafayette, died Wednesday at 6:30 a.m. at St. Elisabeth hospital after a two weeks illness. Born in the Clark's Hill vicinity, he was a son of Richard and Mary Bowles. For many years Mr. Bowles was engaged in barbering in Lafayette. He was a member of the Eagles lodge.

He leaves a daughter, Mrs. Ralph M. Mayerstein, Lafayette, and a son, Melvin Bowles, Hammond, also three sisters, Mrs. Ginzie B. Anderson, Indianapolis; Mrs. Ben Loveless, Clark's Hill, and Mrs. Harley Peterson, Mulberry, and two brothers Guy Bowles, Fowler, and Arthur Bowles, Thorntown. Friends may call at the Rogers and Henderson funeral home after noon Thursday. Services Friday at 10 a.m. from there; Ray Doyle Mullen officiating. Burial Clark's Hill cemetery.
