SYLVESTER HUDNUT

Sylvester Hudnut was born near Colony April 7, 1894, and died near Colony at the home of his sister, Mrs. Herman Hart, April 10, 1919, aged 22 years and 3 days.

He professed faith in Christ during revival meeting at Colony conducted by Rev. L. P. Smith, about 5 years ago.

Sylvester had been in failing health for about two years, and death, though always an unwelcome visitor, was yet the agent to release him from the pangs of disease. He was patient and cheerful thru all his sufferings, even to the last. He leaves to mourn his seemingly untimely death, a father, mother, four sisters and five brothers.

Funeral service was held at Colony Baptist church April 12, where Rev. Newton of Kahoka, preached a very impresive [sic] sermon to a large crowd of relatives and friends who had gathered. The floral offerings were beautiful, one wreath that came from Dr. J. R. Northcutt being especially beautiful. The remains were laid to rest in the Colony cemetery beside his brother and sister who preceded him to the better land some few years ago.

May his sleep be peaceful and awakening glorious, and may the Lord be very gracious to you who mourn, comforting and sustaining you. --- Rev. C. L. Newton.
