Archie Wilkerson, 72 died at his home near Pee Dee park Monday afternoon.. While listening to a radio in his home he passed away suddenly. A son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm Wilkerson, he had been a life long resident of Dillon County, carrying on a very extensive farming operations, and was a man of quiet disposition, friendly and very active in church and community affairs.
Funeral services were conduted at Pleasant Grove Church Wednesday afternoon at 2:00, with Rev. W.E. Bost in charge. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mary Hyatt Wilkerson, one daughter, Mrs. S.B. Herring of Dillon, three sons, A.W. Jr., William J., and John of Dillon, three sisters, Mrs. C.M. Marvin [Roxie Morris] and Mrs. Bessie Carter of Dillon and Mrs. Mandy Poole of Raeford, and two brothers Ed Wilkerson of Fairmont and Bill Wilkerson of Lumberton.
