David was born on March 10, 1967, in Marshalltown, Iowa, to Glen and Rosella Scobee Dillman. He was raised on the family farm near Gilman and graduated from SEMCO High School with the Class of 1985. He also attended Kirkwood Community College and graduated from Mount Mercy College with a degree in Electrical Engineering. On May 19, 1989, he was married to Hayley Sietmann in Marshalltown. The couple lived in Marion, where he worked as an electrical engineer for the Rockwell-Collins Company in Cedar Rapids. He was involved in Boy Scouts of America and he enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling. He is survived by his wife, Hayley Dillman of Marion; two children, Ryker and Danica Dillman of Marion; his parents, Glen and Rosella Dillman of Gilman; two sisters, Nancy (Roger Ingraham) Dillman of Grinnell and Lori (Doug) Edge of Newton; and two brothers, Jeff (Sue) Dillman of Ames and Tom (Dawn) Dillman of Grinnell. He was preceded in death by his brother, William; his paternal grandparents, Robert and Dolly Dillman; and his maternal grandparents, Clarence and Ella Scobee. Memorial contributions may be directed to the David J. Dillman Memorial Fund and sent in care of the Smith Funeral Home.
