Thomas Glen Dillman, the son of Glen William Dillman and Rosella Joan (Scobee) Dillman, was born on December 14, 1956, in Marshalltown, Iowa. He was raised on the family farm near Gilman and graduated from SEMCO High School in 1975.
Tom married Dawn Renee Paul on June 18, 1977, at the Laurel United Methodist Church in Laurel, Iowa. They were the parents of Amy, Matt, and Amber.
He farmed north of Grinnell and was a Pioneer seed representative for over 25 years.
