She was born June 21, 1926, in Rushville to Fred Thomas and Dolly (Smith) Thomas. She married Bert Kenneth Shepard, and he preceded her in death.
Survivors include six sons, Kenneth (wife, Patty) Anderson of Florida, Freddie Shepard of Shelbyville, Bobby (wife, Debbie) Shepard of Washington, Terry (wife, Rebecca) Shepard of Connersville, Tom (wife, Debbie) Shepard of Shelbyville, and Ronnie Shepard of Shelbyville; three daughters, Sarah (husband, Tommy) Shepard-Tucker of Shelbyville, Pamela (husband, Steve) Shepard-Hodgetts of Shelbyville and Lou Ann (husband, Jay) Shepard-Miller of Edenton, N.C.; 36 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and an honorary daughter, Nancy Caudill of Shelbyville.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Roger Shepard and Frankie Shepard; a daughter, Nona Shepard; one brother; and one sister.
Freda leaves behind a longtime companion, Burton Sizemore.
She enjoyed yard sales, reading, music, dancing and loved animals.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service & Crematory, 703 S. Harrison St.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
