One of twelve children, he was born April 8, 1951 in Shelbyville, Indiana, the son of Bert K. and Freda L. Egielske Shepard. He attended Shelbyville schools and later on in life moved to Connersville for residence.
On November 14, 1975, he was married to Rebecca S. Pike, a native of Shelbyville, in Shelbyville; Mrs. Shepard survives.
Originally he began his career with Mark Vault Company in Shelbyville, then, for more than seven years (1979-1986), he worked for Dwyer-Wilbert of Richmond, Indiana; subsequently and until his retirement in 2005, he was employed with Visteon in Connersville. In his leisure, he was an avid fisherman, loved spending time with his family and watching Westerns, enjoyed hunting, going for long drives and was a huge prankster with a tremendous sense of humor.
Besides his beloved wife of thirty-nine years, Rebecca, he is survived by four children, Jarrod Shepard of Evansville, Indiana, Angela Swango and her husband Jason of Richmond, Indiana, Wendy Gregory and her husband Matthew and Jennifer Shepard and her fiancé Ryan Seale, both of Connersville, a step-son, Toby Pike and his companion Kim of Glenwood, Indiana, seven grandchildren, Byron, Dustin and Becca Pike, Zoe Patterson, Andon Gregory and Beau Seale, all of Connersville, and Justin Swango of Richmond, Indiana, five brothers, Kenneth Anderson and his wife Patricia of Pensacola, Florida, Bobby Shepard and his wife Deborah of Yelm, Washington, Freddie, Ronnie and Tom Shepard and his wife Deborah, all of Shelbyville, three sisters, Sara Tucker and her husband Tommy and Pamela Hodgetts and her husband Steve, both of Shelbyville, and Lou Ann Miller and her husband Jay of Edenton, North Carolina, and many nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
He was preceded in death of his parents, Bert and Freda Shepard, a sister, Nona S. Shepard, a brother, Roger D. Shepard, a twin brother, Frankie Shepard, and a step-father, Burt Sizemore.
Funeral Services will be conducted 4 PM Sunday, November 16, 2014; burial will be in Dale Cemetery. Friends may call at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home from 2 until 4 PM on Sunday.
