Obituary, "Northwest Arkansas Times", Wednesday, January 14, 1998: "Clarence E. Thornsberry 87 of Fayetteville died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 1998, at Washington Regional Medical Center. He was born April 29, 1910, in Combs, the son of William Henry and Nora Jane Shipp Thornsberry. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Full Gospel Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes E. Thornsberry, Dec. 5, 1988, a brother, Irvin Thornsberry, and two sisters, Alice Stanberry and Ida Reynolds. He is survived by one brother, John Thornsberry of Fayetteville; four sisters, Celia Brashears of St. Paul, and Myrtle Hensley, Wilma Carney and Pauline Eans, all of Fayetteville; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan 15, at Moore's Chapel with the Rev. H.M. Shipp officiating. Burial will be in Son's Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-7 p.m. Wednesday at Moore's Chapel."

A Fayetteville, Ar. resident since early 1930s, Clarence raised cattle and farmed at his place on Crossover Road until the last few years of his life. He continued to miss his cattle, often spoke to me about wanting to get a few head back on the place. He kept up his garden until about 1994. He loved to pitch horseshoes, and was the undisputed family horseshoe-pitching-champion!
