Born July 24, 1892, in New York Mills, Minn., he was raised in Minnesota. He farmed in North Dakota as a young man then worked at Puget Sound Naval shipyard from 1953-1959 when he retired.
Surviving are six daughters, Hazel (Mrs. Ray) Wuolu of Oaks, N.D., Elsie (Mrs. Bion) Humphreys of Richmond, Calif., Violet (Mrs. Don) Fisher of Portland, Ore., Helen (Mrs. Gordon) Miller of St. Paul, Minn., Betty (Mrs. John) Rogers, Tumwater, and Luella Christian of Shelton; three sons, Ernest of Port Orchard, Allen of Pensacola, Fla., and Roger of Portland; 30 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
Private services will be Tuesday in Olympia with internment at Olympic Memorial Cemetery, Tumwater.
