Funeral services for James H. Groutage were Saturday, April 21 at the Vase Funeral Chapel. Bishop James R. Etherington of the LDS Church conducted the services. Interment was in the Mountain View Cemetery.
Groutage, 73, of 739 ½ Connecticut St., Rock Springs, died shortly after being admitted to the Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County at 11:07 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, 1990.
A resident of Rock Springs since 1946 and former resident of Winton, Groutage had been in ill health the past several years.
He was born in Hanna, Nov. 6, 1916, the son of the late Winnfred H. and Clara Ross Groutage. He attended schools in Winton and Reliance and was a graduate of Reliance High School with the class of 1935.
Groutage was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He worked in the coal mines at Winton and was a retired freightman for the Union Pacific Railroad. Groutage was a member of the LDS Church.
Survivors include three brothers, Louis Groutage of Rock Springs, Joseph P. Groutage and Ralph Groutage, both of Salt Lake City, Utah; two sisters, LaVona Wooden of Ogden, Utah and Lucille Moore of Concord, Calif., and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Groutage was preceded in death by three brothers, Fred, Earl and Melvin Groutage.
