Funeral services for John S. Marek of Industry were held from the Industry Brethren Church at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, July 3, with Rev. Milton Maly officiating. Burial was in the Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers were: Jay Dee Rinn, Alfred Lee Marek, Barnell Marek, Dennie Marek, Darrell Marek and Gene Slovak.

Mr. Marek died on Monday, July 1, 1991 at a Brenham Nursing Home. He was 90 years old.

A son of William and Ann (Zanek) Marek, he was born May 7, 1901 in Industry. He was married to the former Elsie Slovak on November 26, 1926. Mr. Marek was a farmer. He was a member of the Industry Brethren Church and the SPJST Lodge.

Survivors include wife, Elsie Marek of Brenham; sisters, Annie Koslovsky of Industry and Adella Rinn and her husband, Dennis, of Industry; and numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives.

Zaskoda Chapel of Industry and Koenig-Peel Funeral Home of LaGrange were in charge of arrangements.
