ELLEN was the daughter of George Washington Johnson and Mary Ann (Chambers) Johnson. She never married and passed away when she was 20 years old.

The following obituary was found in a Johnson family private collection and was written by W. N. Abernathy:

"Sister Ellen Johnson, daughter of Brother G. W. Johnson and wife was born on August 5, 1884 and died on August 31, 1904. She leaves a father, four sisters and two brothers to mourn her departure; but she does not leave them without the precious assurance that she has gone to a rich reward.

Sister Johnson confessed her faith in Christ and was baptized into the one body about seven years ago and ever afterwards lived true to her profession. For several years she had taken a mother's place in the household duties and so faithful did she discharge them that her influence was strongly felt by all who knew her well. During the seven weeks of her sickness she patiently bore her afflictions and was ever cheerful to the day of her death. She had quite a number of associates relatives and friends who sadly miss her.

Her father and her four sisters are all faithful members of the body of Christ. One brother is a Baptist and is living up to the standard of that teaching; the other brother is a member of one church, but though an industrious, kind-hearted boy is too fond of the ways of the world. May the loss of this dear sister have an influence upon him to cause him to lead a more steady, consecrated and devoted life."
