Diane was born May 28, 1949 in Albion, Michigan, daughter of Paul & Cora Bell Edler Smeltzer. She was a graduate of Albion High School Class of 1967. She graduated from Kellogg Community College Nursing School in 1969. She was an LPN in Homer, Michigan before coming to Pana in December 1985. She worked in the nursing homes in Pana and Shelbyville and Pana Community Hospital and in Home Health.
Diane was a member of the Pana Christian Church where she was a member of the Women of Worship Bible Study Group, and was leader of the Wednesday Night youth group for many years. She was studying to be a Christian counselor. She devoted her life to God, her husband, children and grandchildren. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and making gifts for her children and grandchildren.
She married Patrick D. Cline, Sr. on April 1, 1978 in Homer, Michigan, who she met as a result of Diane providing health care to his mother.
She is survived by her husband Patrick D. Cline, Sr., Pana, IL; children: Harry R. Armistead II & wife Heather, Pana, IL; Michele R. Armistead, & special friend Brian Sargent, Pana, IL; Jennifer L. Christer & husband Tim, Pana, IL; Patrick D. Cline, Jr. & wife Casey, Lincoln, IL; Christina M. Rosinski & husband Matthew, Decatur, IL; and Tressie E. Cline & special friend Denver Joyce, Witt, IL; 2 step children: Sherry L. Boone, Louisville, KY; and James W. Cline, Louisville, KY; Grandchildren: Derek & Dylan Armistead; Kaitlyn, Braden & Keaton "Bo" Christer; Abigail Cline; step grandchildren: Kia and Austin Boone and Maria Cline; brother, Lawrence Smeltzer, Homer, Michigan; twin sister, Doren Love, Murfreesboro, TN; sisters: Barbara Jacobs, Camden, Michigan and Cora Angell, Homer, Michigan. Visitation will be held Friday, February 23, 2007 from 5 to 8 p.m. in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 24, 2007 in Pana Christian Church at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Bill Rosnett officiating. Burial will be in Mound Cemetery, Pana.
