Mr. Smeltzer was born April 7, 1966 in Albion to Paul Smeltzer and Cora (Edler) Smeltzer. His mother survived him in Homer, while his father preceded him in death.
Paul was a graduate of Homer High School and Davenport Business College. He was employed at Bob Frahm Chevrolet in Albion. He formerly owned and operated Chicago Joe's Video in Litchfield and had been a distribution manager for the Battle Creek Enquirer & News for several years.
Mr. Smeltzer enjoyed bowling and was a member of the 300 Club and several area leagues. He was also a fan of car racing.
In addition to his mother, survivors included four sisters, Diane Cline of Pana, Illinois, Dorene Love of Molino, Florida, Barbara Smeltzer of Bankers and Cora Angell of Flushing; a brother, Larry "Buddy" Smeltzer of Homer; and special friends, Jeff and Deb Peters, of Jackson.
