Cecil Ray McClure, 81, of Handley, formerly of Crown Hill, died April 1, 2011, at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley.

Born Aug. 20, 1929, at Riverside, he was the son of the late Vernie and Cora Mae Morris McClure. He also was preceded in death by his former wife and mother of his children, Delores Jean McClure; and two brothers and three sisters.

Mr. McClure was formerly employed at Riverton Coal Company with 34 years of service and was retired from Central Appalachian Coal Company.

He was a member of the UMWA and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, spending 19 months in Korea.

He was a member of Crown Hill Baptist Church in Crown Hill and he attended Handley Baptist Church.

Surviving: daughters, Yvonne Henline and her husband, Mike, of Buckhannon and Tammy Skaggs and her husband, Shawn, of Victor; wife, Joanna Burke McClure; sister, Verna Lee Foster of East Bank; grandchildren, Jason Payne, Jennifer Brown and her fiancé, Justin, and Matt Skaggs; several stepgrandchildren and step-greatgrandchildren; and stepchildren, Ann Samples and her husband, Jim, of Nitro, Jerry "Butch" Filbin and his wife, Debbie, of East Bank, and Randi Lynn Bragg and her husband, Bob, of South Charleston.

Service was April 4 at O'Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery, with Rev. Carll Pomeroy and Rev. Lewis Villers officiating. Burial followed in Montgomery Memorial Park at London with military honors.

Arrangements were by O'Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery.
