Mrs. Sarah Jane Bittinger, 84, wife of William A Bittinger, Hagerstown, Maryland, died Sunday evening at 8:35 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. George DeGroft, 1529 Naudain Street, Harrisburg, of a cerebral hemorrhage. She was stricken on Christmas morning.
Mrs. Bittinger was the daugher of the late Frederick D and Juliana Joyns smith and was a native of Adams County. Her mother was a daughter of John Johns, one of the founders of the city of Baltimore. Mrs. Bittinger was a member of Grace United Brethren church, Hagerstown.
Surviving are her husband; two daughters, Mrs. B.A. Elliott, Lancaster, and Mrs. DeGroft, Harrisburg; two sisters, Mrs. Laura Snyder, Steinwehr Avenue, and Mrs. Fannie Myers, Fayetteville; a brother, Will Smith, Louisville, Ohio; five grandsons and one granddaughter, and two great granddaughters.
Funeral services from Flohr's Lutheran church, near McKnightstown, Wednesday morning at 11:00 with the Rev. G. L. Rider, her pastor, officiating. Interment in the church cemetery.
