Nancy Alice DeSpain McCubbin, 85, daughter of the late Ellis DeSpain and Mary Susan Marcum DeSpain was born March 11, 1900 in Green County and died at 3:40 a.m. Tuesday, February 18, 1986 at the McDowell Skilled Nursing Facility in Greensburg. She was a member of the Oak Forrest Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
She united in marriage to Elige Foist McCubbin Sept 5, 1917 who preceded her in death July 14,1984. To this union was born seven sons and two daughters: Rev. Carl McCubbin, Dee McCubbin, Emery McCubbin, Harold McCubbin, Mary Jane Dile all of Greensburg; Russell McCubbin, Louisville, Willard McCubbin and Helen Warren of Illinois; Harlon McCubbin preceded his mother in death in 1938.
Mrs. McCubbin is also survived by four sisters and one brother: Ida DeSpain; Summervsille; Flora "Doll" Thompson, Greensburg; Lena Graham, Hodgenville; Ruth Loyall, Magnolia and Gilbert DeSpain Hodgenville.
Also surviving are 18 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren along with a host of other relatives and friends.
The remains are at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home with funeral services being conducted at the Oak Forrest Cumberland Presbyterian Church February 20, 1986 at 1 p.m. with burial in the Perkins Cemetery
Pallbearers were: David Patterson, Dean Dile; Perry McCubbin, Roger McCubbin, James McCubbin and Joe Curry.
