Eula Lee Miears, age 79, went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 15, 2008. She was born on August 23, 1928, in Pioneer, Texas, to Bertha Geye Mehaffey and Alfred Mehaffey. She was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, James Miears on March 19, 1945, in Meridian, Texas. Eula Lee was a homemaker and she and James owned and operated Miears Butane for many years. She was the treasurer and kept attendance record for the Bible school classes at the First Baptist where she was a member. Eula Lee was an artist and a member of the garden club. She was a director for the exchange student program, and hosted 9 exchange students in her home.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 15, at the First Baptist Church in Gorman, with Bro. Barry Schahn officiating. Burial followed in the Oaklawn Cemetery in Gorman.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, James Miears of Gorman; two sons, Bill Miears and wife, Judy of Gorman, and John Miears and wife, Carrie of Bowie; sister, Wanda Goodwin of Midland; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.
