She was the daughter of William and Elizabeth Camlin of Williamsburg County, South Carolina. She married George W. Barefoot about 1853. They were the parents of at least three children: Chalmers, Mary Eleanor and Susan Isabella. She was buried in the Barefoot family cemetery located on the north side of Contentnea Creek just outside of Wilson. In 1947, the remains of 39 people were removed from the cemetery during the widening of Hwy 301. The remains were reinterred in Maplewood Cemetery.
