Blaine Hammond will officiate. Burial will be in Tahoma Cemetery.Born in Spring Creek, Iowa on June 9, 1854 to Charles Moberly and Susanah Epperson Moberly, Mrs. Mathis had made her home in Selah. She had lived in this area for 46 years and was a charter member of the Selah Methodist Church. She also was a member of the Women's Society of Christian Service and Susan Mathis Circle, a church society name for her. She was a great-great grand niece of Thomas Jefferson and was honored by being made eligible for a burial place in the old Jefferson Cemetery near the Jefferson Shrine. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Effie Pierce, Selah; Mrs. Nellie Banks, Grandview; and Mrs. Gertrude Banks of Riverside, California; three sons, Rev. Frank Mathis, Colorado Springs, Colorado; Louis Mathis, Selah; and Clifford Mathis, Grandview; 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren. parents Charles Moberly #5879771.
