Louisiana Francis Fountain was born July 6, 1851 in Alabama to James Fountain of Georgia and Serinda Fountain of North Carolina. The 1870 census shows Louisiana had two brothers, James A. and Willard.

Louisiana married James Marion Shockler, son of Joseph L. Shockler, in 1877 at Alto, Cherokee County Texas. The 1880 census shows they had two sons, James M. and William.
Louisiana and Jas Marion moved to the area of Ross Texas in the mid 1880's. In 1889 young James died followed two weeks later by the Shockler's two month old infant S. F. Shockler (gender unknown).

Louisiana and Jas Marion lived near Penelope Texas in Hill County until his death in 1925. Louisiana passed away at the home of her son, Alton J. Shockler in George's Creek, Somervell County, Texas in 1829. She and her husband Jas Marion are buried next to their two children at the White Rock Cemetery in McClennan County.
