Angelina Cardoza, 74-year old resident of Metropolitan, died Friday morning at her home following several years of ailing health. She was born January 10, 1885 in the Azores, coming to the United States and Humboldt County in 1920. She had resided in Ferndale and Alton and had made her home in Metropolitan for the past 14 years. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church of Fortuna and SPRSI of Ferndale, a social member of the SES lodge of Rio Dell, and of the UPPEC of Ferndale.
She is survived by sons John S. Cardoza of Metropolitan and Joseph S. Cardoza of Willows, a sister, Mrs. Gertrude Medina of Orland, a brother John Martin of Ferndale, grandchildren, John Cardoza Jr. of Alton, Henry Cardoza of Rio Dell, Albert Cardoza of Fortuna, Marlene Cardoza of Metropolitan, and Gene, Frank, Evelyn, Mary and Judy Cardoza all of Willows. Five great grandchildren and numerous other relatives.
Rosary will be recited Sunday evening at 8:30 in the chapel of Goble's Fortuna Mortuary. Friends will assemble at the Mortuary, Monday at 10 A.M. and proceed to St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Fortuna where a requiem mass will be offered at 10:30 A.M. by the Rev. T.V. Burke. Interment will follow in the family plot of St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Ferndale. Pallbearers will be Antone Lawrence, Jack Gonsalves, John J. Nunes, Louis Rocha, Joe Leonardo and Manuel DeFreitas.
