Mr. Austin was manager of the A. L. Duckwall Store in Dodge City prior to his transfer to McPherson in 1918 where he was manager of the Duckwall Store until his retirement.
He married Mala Henry, of Salina, in 1913; she survived. He was also survived by a son, Dr. John O. Austin; a brother, J. R. Austin; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
