Johnnie Lou was the sixth of 13 children born to her parents. She was one of four children who are deaf. She attended the Oklahoma School for the Deaf at Sulphur, OK.

Johnnie and her husband, Charles, had four children.

Obit: Sulphur (Okla.) Times-Democrat, August 27, 1987 - 2A: Services for Mrs. Johnnie Lou Braden, 55, Catoosa, were held Tuesday, August 11, 1987, 10:00 a.m. at Moore's Eastland Chapel in Tulsa. Burial was in Memorial Park, Tulsa.

Mrs. Braden, a former resident of Sulphur, died Saturday, August 8, after a lengthy illness. She was born in Earlsboro, OK and grew up in Sulphur. She attended the Oklahoma School for the Deaf.

Survivors include her husband, Charles F. Braden, a daughter, Velma Jean McComas, of Derby, Kansas; three sons, Charles A. Braden, of Chicago, ILL., Lester and Jeff Braden, of Catoosa; 10 grandchildren; six sisters, Doris Wise, Vaughn, Montana; Carolyn LaRue, Dallas, Texas; Nancy Hein, Conway Springs, Kansas; Mary Holliman, Roanoke, Texas; Betty Gilreath, Hartshorne, OK; and Margaret Parkhurst, Reseda, California; and five brothers, Richard and Jerry Watson, Visalia, California; Floyd Watson, Jacksonville, Florida; Robert Watson, Tulsa and Harold Watson, Merced, California.

She was preceded in death by her parents; J. W. and Vera M. Watson and brother, Doyle Watson.
