Robert graduated with the Class of 1950 at the Oklahoma School for the Deaf, Sulphur, Oklahoma, where he was active in sports and other campus activities. Upon graduation, he began his printing career at the Sulphur Times Democrat and then worked at various newspapers in Oklahoma, Kansas, and Arkansas before retirement. Robert married Lou Katherine Braden on May 20, 1954, in Wellston, Oklahoma, and to this union a son and daughter were born. He married Wanda May McConnaughhay on April 18, 1975, in DesArc, Arkansas, and they were parents of one daughter. He was preceded in death by his son, parents, four brothers (Harold, Floyd, William Doyle, and Jerry Watson), and one sister (Johnnie Lou Watson Braden). Robert was survived by his two daughters and sons-in-law, a daughter-in-law, four grandsons, three granddaughters-in-law, great granddaughter, one brother, six sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews. Robert was always an avid OU football fan and kept up with all sports and world events via tv and newspapers.
