She was preceded in death by her husband, Dillard M. Bates and two sons, David Bates and William J. Bates.
Mrs. Bates was a retired Nurse's Aide at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
Surviving are one son, Dillard T. Bates, Norfolk; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four sisters, Alpha Blevins, Dublin; Dorothy Nester, Roanoke; Lucy Smith, Greensboro, N. C.; Annie Belle Cobbler, Roanoke.
Graveside services will be 12:00 noon Wednesday in Fairview Cemetery with the Rev. James L. Williams officiating. Friends may call at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel.
