Jennie Van Bruggen was born April 25, 1904 in Holland, the daughter of Henry and Annie Van Bruggen. She moved with her family to the United States when she was four years old and they settled in the Litchville, North Dakota area. She attended school in Hastings, North Dakota and rural LItchville. She worked at the Olson Store in Litchville.
On September 25, 1935 she was united in marriage to Axel Leonard Formo at their parents home in rural Litchville. The couple made their home in Rosebud Township, rural LItchville where they farmed. Axel died on June 8, 1976. She stayed on the farm until she entered the Sheyenne Care Center in 1995.
She was a member of First Lutheran Church and their ELCW. She was very active in various church groups including being a Sunday School teacher, singing in the choir and quilting which was very special to her. She was also a member of the Litchville Homemakers and Litchville Sr. Citizens.
Jennie is survived by two sons, Jack (Dianna) & Lawrence (Karen) both of rural LItchville; 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren and 2 step-great-grandchiildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
