Funeral services were held on Saturday from the First Reformed Church in Litchville with Rev. Gerald Heemstra officiating. Interment was made in the Litchville cemetery. Funeral arrangements were made by Oliver’s Chapel, Valley City.
Mrs. Eldwyn Van Bruggen was soloist, accompanied by Mrs. Bernard Kluvers at the piano. Pallbearers were Leonard Boom, Robert Miedema, Harvey Faber, Peter Verduin, Henry Verduin, Ralph Kluvers.
Mr. Van Bruggen was born on July 1, 1897, in Holland, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Van Bruggen. He came to this country in 1905, and he has made his home in the Litchville community since that time, being engaged in farming most of his life time, as long as he was able to work.
Mr. Van Bruggen was united in marriage to Lucy Rienstra Jan. 18, 1938 at Litchville. He has been a member of the Litchville Reformed Church since his youth.
He is survived by his wife; one son Albert in the U.S. Army; four daughters; Martha, Mrs. Daniel Tranby of Minneapolis; Marie, Mrs. Alfred Kania of Fargo; and Helen and Mary Ann both at home. He also leaves one brother, Gerrit H. of Litchville; and two sisters, Jennie Mrs. Axel Formo of Litchville; Gertie, Mrs. H.J. Vahl of Colton, S.D., and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters.
He was a good neighbor and friend. Blessed be his memory.
