Albert Eugene Ames, 87, passed away May 12, 2005 in Salt Lake City. He was born April 9, 1918 in Lago, Bannock County (Caribou), Idaho to Hyrum Clark Ames and Hester Saunders. His first wife was Estella Wood, and they were married 14 November 1944.
He married Sylvia Mae Allen (Keitman) March 11, 1964 in Twin Falls, Idaho. Albert was a beloved father and an excellent friend. All who knew him came to appreciate his sense of humor, loyalty, and strong sense of community. He had a green thumb and took a lot of pleasure from tilling the soil and nurturing all things that grow. Albert served in the U.S. Army and was a member of VFW and DAV. Member of Loyal Order of Moose #259, Fellowship, Legion of Moose. Secretary of Moose Travel Bowling League for five years. President of Moose Travel Golfers for 16 years. Drove truck for Consolidated Freightways for 20 years. Daughters, Dorene Lund and Kathy Handy; sister, Thelma Walker; brother, Hyrum Ames; and one grandchild, Mark Lund, survive him. His wife, Sylvia Mae Ames, precedes him in death. Albert's dedication as a husband can serve as an example to us all. His friends, family, and especially his children will miss him dearly. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 19, 2005, 11 a.m. at Evans & Early Mortuary, 574 East 100 South, Salt Lake City, Utah.
Interment to follow at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 10600 South 1700 East Sandy, Utah.
