Sarah was born to George Brown, who was a Revolutionary War soldier. Her mother's name is unknown. She moved with her family to land outside Greeneville, Tennessee in 1804 and there wed her neighbor Henry Trobaugh on Christmas day, December 25, 1805. They had:
1) James in 1806
2) John in 1807
3) George in 1810

In 1811, Sarah and her family joined father George and her brothers and moved to Harrison County, Indiana. There she had:
4) Elizabeth in 1813
5) Mary Ann in 1814
6) Henry Jackson in 1816
7) Daniel in 1822
8) Margaret in 1825

In 1835, she and her family moved to present Richland County, Illinois but son John stayed behind. Sarah's husband Henry died in 1857 and she died about eight years later and is buried in an unmarked grave.
