WAYNESBURG, Dec, 27. - Mrs. Della S. Shriver, 85, of Waynesburg, who for eight years was in charge of Curry Memorial Home near Waynesburg, died at 3:30 a. m. Saturday, December 26, 1953, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. William H. Ullom, 395 First avenue, Waynesburg.
Although she had been in failing health the past few years, her heath (sic) was caused by a sudden heart attack and was somewhat unexpected.
Mrs. Shriver was the widow of Mordecai Shriver and many years ago she and her husband were steward and stewardess at the Greene County Children's Home for a long period.
Mrs. Shriver was born January 21, 1868 in Franklin Township, near Waynesburg. She was a daughter of John M. Scott and Elizabeth Rinehart Scott, both deceased. The families of each of her parents were among the early settlers in the Coal Lick section of Franklin Township.
After failing health made it necessary for her to discontinue her direction of the Curry Home she had resided at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ullom, in Waynesburg. She was a member of the Washington Street Methodist Church in Waynesburg.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Delilah Ullom, at whose home she died, and Mrs. Christine Howell, of Washington. Also by two granddaughters, Martha Jean Ullom McClure, wife of Edward McClure, of Waynesburg, and Barbara Ann Ullom Varner, wife of Donald R. Varner, of New Bern, N. C.
SHRIVER - Friends of Mrs. Della Shriver, of Waynesburg, who died Saturday, December 26, 1953 are being received at anytime at the home of William H. Ullom, 395 First avenue, Waynesburg, where funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. Tuesday, December 29 in charge of Rev. Paul P. Holden. Burial in Green Mount Cemetery, Waynesburg. George I. Church, funeral director, Waynesburg.
