Mr. Capshaw was a resident of White Pine, a member of the Church of Christ and was active in establishing the White Pine congregation, where he taught the Teenage Bible Class for several years. He was retired as an area manager from USS Agri-Chemical and was active in the White Pine Lions Club for several years, where he served as president. He also coached Little League baseball and worked with the Boy Scouts of America.
Mr. Capshaw was preceded in death by his parents, Hobart and Lettie Johnson Capshaw Sr.; his step-mother Lera Adkisson Polk Capshaw; and a brother, Robert B. Capshaw.
Survivors include his wife, Josie Capshaw; a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Marcella Capshaw; a daughter, Pamela Capshaw and grandson Robert Capshaw, all of White Pine; two granddaughters and their husbands, Chris and Melissa (Capshaw) Hill and Timmy and Kimberly (Capshaw) Dyke, all of Morristown; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Howard H. and Betty Capshaw of Fayetteville, Edward L. and Jackie Capshaw of Centerville, Ga., and Larry and Jamie Capshaw of Morristown; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Milton (Buster) and Janice Carolyn Johnson of Thompson's Station and Vernon and Faye Barnhill of Gahanna, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Nancy Coleman Capshaw of Morristown; several nieces and nephews; and special family friends, the Buddy Taylor family of White Pine.
Funeral services will be held Aug. 27, at 8 p.m., at Farrars White Pine Chapel with the Revs. Terry Smith and David Bugg officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Johnson Hollow Cemetery on Sycamore Road in the Burwood Community.
