Obituary - Kaysville--Lloyd Amos Bishop died April 5, 2000.
A lifelong Kaysville resident, he was born March 16, 1903 to Amos Henry and Lucy Belle Smith. He married his high school sweetheart, Vilda Thurgood, February 5, 1925. She died April 13, 1950. He married Florence Zesiger Larson, Sept. 1950. She died May 1990.
Lloyd was active in the LDS Church. He served a mission to Hawaii from 1925-1927 with Vilda. He served a Washington, D.C. Temple Mission from 1979-1980 with Florence. He was bishop of the Kaysville Third Ward from 1966-1972. He and his wife had also been Ogden Temple workers.
He played basketball and baseball at Davis High School and attended the University of Utah. He loved baseball. He played professionally in the Utah industrial leagues in the 1920's. He was the oldest player in the 1954 All-church softball tournament and was still playing 15 years later.
He spent 23 years as a manager in the LDS Welfare system. He worked 16 years as regional manager for WPA and an auto accountant in Idaho. Long active in politics, he served as Kaysville Mayor from 1954-1958 and as Justice of the Peace from 1971-1979.
He is survived by four sons, Lloyd K. Bishop (Rose), Las Vegas, NV; Howard Larson (Renae), Nampa, ID; Darrell Larson (Judy), Bountiful; Rob (Jeralynn), Brigham City; 21 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wives, three sisters, two brothers and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 11, 2000 at 11 a.m. at the Fairfield Chapel, 555 North 100 East, Fairfield Rd., Kaysville. Viewing will be Monday from 6-8 p.m. at Lindquist's Kaysville Mortuary, 400 No. Main and 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to services at the chapel. Interment Kaysville Cemetery.
