Gaffney, SC - - Thelma Gilliland Hudnut, 87, formerly of the Rehoboth Community, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at Peachtree Centre. Born in Union County, she was the widow of the late Harry Hudnut and daughter of the late Minor Atkins Gilliland and Laura Fowler Gilliland. Mrs. Hudnut retired from the textiles industry, was a member of the VFW Women's Auxiliary, was an active member of Grace Baptist Church and she was a former Sunday School teacher. Surviving are two daughters, Janice Downey and husband, Ronnie of Gaffney and Lee Gregory and husband, Dale of Gaffney; eight grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren; fourteen great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Carl Hansen and Clifford Smith (Find A Grave Memorial# 85231155)
, a sister, Jeanetta Blanton and four brothers, Nesbitt Gilliland, Leonard Gilliland, Hollis Gilliland and Talmadge Gilliland and a foster brother, W. T. Whelchel. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 PM on Friday, March 18, 2011 at Blakely Funeral Home. Funeral services will immediately follow at 2:00 PM in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Andy Carrigan and Rev. Alan Peeler officiating. Interment will be in the Rehoboth Baptist Church Cemetery.
