Later began working for Gulf Oil Refining Co in Glasgow, driving a gasoline truck and worked there until he was elected Deputy Sheriff of Barren Co. At the end of his term he was elected Barren County Sheriff and was later elected and served 2 terms as Barren County Jailer. Member of VFW, attended and was a member of Glasgow Baptist Church and the Go-Get'em Sunday School Class.
