"Levi Cappis married Miss N. L. Griffith, November 22, 1885 by Rev. Joseph Chaffin." (Coleman County marriage records.) (NOTE FROM RALPH TERRY: The marriage license was obtained in Coleman County, Texas but they probably married in McCulloch County, Texas as the minister was Joseph Chaffin of McCulloch County.) (NOTE FROM RALPH TERRY: In February 2004, I found the original marriage license still on file in the Coleman County Clerk's office, which I now have.)

Note from Ralph Terry: For many years, I thought Nancy had married the elder Levi Abraham Cappis, but I now know that she was married to his son, Levi, born in 1855. This supposition came about because the markers at Chaffin for Nancy L. and for her father-in-law, Levi Abraham are almost identical, made of sandstone and done in a very precision manner for hand made stones. The daughter of Levi and Nancy has a very different stone, which was probably put up soon after her death. I feel that Levi probably made the stones for Nancy and one for his father, who died two years after Nancy.
