Mrs. Ruth Hart Travassos 85, of Jacksonville passed away on Thursday March 10, 2011 at the Hadlow Center for Caring. Mrs. Travassos was born on Feb. 10, 1926 in Pitts, GA to the late George and Laura (Johnson) Hart. She has been a longtime resident of Jacksonville and was a member of the Heckscher Drive Baptist Church. Mrs. Travassos was a homemaker, enjoyed fishing, cooking, and caring for others. She was preceded in death by her husband, Abraham. Her survivors are her children, Manuel Travassos (Barbara) of Jacksonville, Laura Copeland (John), Linda Thompson (Terry) all of GA, David Travassos (Sue) of Orange Park, siblings, Mae Atkinson of AL, Lena Ferrell of St. Augustine, and A.T. "Dick" Hart of Ashburn, GA. She is also survived by her 13 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 1 great great granddaughter. Funeral services for Mrs. Travassos will be held on Mon., March 14, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with viewing beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at the Penney Farms Cemetery. In lieu of flower contributions may be made to the Penney Farms Cemetery Fund, 2115 Raymonds Place, Green Cove Springs, FL 32043 or NE Community Hospice, 4266 Sunbeam Rd, Jacksonville FL 32257.
