Abraham served in the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War, as a Private under Captain Levi Rounsevill who responded to the first call, known as the "Lexington Alarm," April 19, 1775. Serviced 3 days.

He also served Lieutenant Nathaniel Morton's Company, Colonel Edward Pope's regiment; marched December 8, 1776; discharged December 19, 1776; Serviced 12 days, on an alarm at Rhode Island; also, Captain Joseph Norton's Company, Colonel John Hathaway's regiment; enlisted August 2, 1781; discharged August 7, 1781; Serviced 6 days, on an alarm at Rhode Island.
