Alice Smith Closser, widow of Frank Closser and a resident of Bliss for 32 years died in the Cook Nursing Home Lamont on Friday, May 20th, following a long illness.
She was born in Hume 85 years ago, the daughter of Chester and Helen Mills Skiff and was twice married. Her first husband was Julius Smith who died in 1901 and her second husband, Frank Closser who died in 1940. She was a charter member of the Hermitage Grange and a former member of the Hermitage W.C.T.U.
Surviving are a son, Lynn Smith,of Warsaw and a step daughter Mrs. Elmer Hotchkiss of Bliss, nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Arthur Adams of Ithaca.
A prayer service was held at 1:30 P.M. on Sunday the 22nd. at the home of Mrs. Charles McElheny in Bliss, following by a funeral service at the Bliss Baptist church at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Burlingame officiating, interment at Smith Corners.
