Martin Luther Harris, 66, 109 Cemetery Street, sexton in Oakwood Cemetery for the past six years, died at 6:15 A.M. today in Martinsville General Hospital. He suffered a heart attack in his home on Monday night.
A native of Stokes County, NC, Mr. Harris had made his home here for 34 years. He was a carpenter for many years. He was a member of McCabe Memorial Baptist Church.
He leaves his wife, Mrs. Lilla P. Harris, of the home; three daughters, Mrs. L.T. Shoemaker, Mrs. Gene Moore, and Miss Mary Virginia Harris; and four sons, Monroe, Joseph M., Lester M., and Lowell T. Harris, all of this city.
Also surviving are four brothers, James F. Harris, Amelia; Oliver C. Harris, Stuart; George S. Harris and Charles D. Harris, both of Spray, NC; and one sister, Mrs. Lula Martin, Radford.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 P.M. Wednesday in McCabe Memorial Baptist Church in charge of the Rev. Kenneth Bragg and Elder D. B. Willard. Burial will follow in Roselawn.
The body is now in the McKee Funeral Chapel, will be taken to his home this afternoon until the funeral.

Funeral services for Martin Luther Harris, 66, 109 Cemetery Street, who died in a local hospital early Tuesday, were held at 2:30 P.M. yesterday in McCabe Memorial Baptist Church.
Officiating were the Rev. Kenneth Bragg and Elder D. B. Willard. Burial was in Roselawn. Pallbearers were Martin, Percy and Herman Harris, Carson Slaughter, Andrew Jones, David Baker, Aubrey Miller, Ray Edwards and J. O. Shumate. Flowerbearers were grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
Mr. Harris is survived by his wife, three daughters, four sons, nine grandchildren, one sister, and four brothers.
