OBITUARY
Benton Donegan, age 80 of Seguin, passed away on March 9, 2011. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church with Rev. Kevin Dellaria officiating. Inurnment will follow in the St. Andrew's Episcopal Church Columbarium with a reception afterwards in McKeough Hall. Benton was born on July 17, 1930 in Seguin, Texas, the 5th of 6 children of Charles Henry Donegan, Sr. and Hettie Giffen Donegan. He attended public schools in Seguin and graduated from Seguin High School in 1948. He attended the University of Texas in Austin and Texas Lutheran College in Seguin. His working life was spent at First National Bank of Seguin, Texas. He married Mary Louise Still on September 21, 1963. They are the parents of Kelly Ann, Tracy Elizabeth and James Benton Donegan. They raised their family in Seguin. Benton was very involved in civic and church activities over the years having served in the Kiwanis Club, Chamber of Commerce, Seguin Industrial Foundation, Board of Trustees of the Seguin ISD, Teddy Buerger Center for Drug Abuse and Addiction Treatment at the Guadalupe Valley Regional Medical Center, MH-MR, The Seguin Boys' Club which became the Seguin Activity Center. He served in the U. S. Army National Guard from 1948 - 1957. He attended St. Andrew's Episcopal Church and participated in many activities there, including serving on the Vestry several times, as Senior Warden several times, on the Finance Committee and as Treasurer of The St. Andrew's Foundation. His many hobbies and interests included a love of aviation. He was a private pilot and also built several kit planes. He was always interested in vehicles. During WW II he put a motor on a bicycle to make a motor bike. Since he got gas rationing coupons for that and since it used only a small amount of gas, he could share his gas ration with the family. He graduated to motorcycles, cars, and eventually, airplanes. He was also an avid hunter who enjoyed hunting quail and doves. He spent many hours in the out of doors doing lawn and garden work at the 2 homes he lived in as an adult. He was always devoted to family, both the family he was born into and the family he raised after he and Mary Louise married. He met every Monday for lunch with his brothers for many years and was also a devoted husband and father. He and Mary Louise travelled to many parts of the United States. His 2 favorite places were Rocky Mountain National Park in Estes Park, Colorado and Big Bend National Park in Texas. Survivors include his loving wife of 47 years, Mary Louise Donegan; daughter Kelly Donegan Follis (Frank), Tracy Donegan Donley (John), son James Benton Donegan, grandchildren Emily Ann and Nathaniel Benton Aubin, Elizabeth Ann and William James Follis; sisters Marjorie Donegan Luce and Patricia Custer; brothers Charles Henry Donegan Jr. (Marjorie), John Donegan, Emmett Giffen Donegan (Geri); sisters-in-law Patricia Still Lowe (John), Ina Elizabeth Still Brown (Virgil), Carol Lee Still Powell (David), and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents C. H. Sr. and Hettie Donegan. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The St. Andrew's Foundation, St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 201 E.
