Funeral services for Elsie Marie Thrasher, 82, of Cookeville will be held Friday, March 11 at 1 p.m. in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home with Bro. Clarence DeLoach and Bro. Jeremiah Tatum officiating. Interment will follow in Cookeville City Cemetery.
Mrs. Thrasher died Wednesday morning, March 9, 2011 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
She was born March 13, 1928 in Putnam County, TN to the late John Estes and Pearl Maude Stewart Bandy.
Mrs. Thrasher was a member of Willow Avenue Church of Christ.
Mrs. Thrasher and her late husband, Robert Lee Thrasher owned and operated Thrasher Insurance Agency in Cookeville for over 50 years.
She was a retired Bookkeeper with the Cookeville Electric Department with 35 years of service.
She was a former member and past president of the Cookeville Jaycettes, and the Business and Professional Women's Association. She was a member of the Master Gardeners.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Ellie Lemons, Nell Lemons and Dorothy Dowell and a nephew, Phillip Lemons.
Mrs. Thrasher is survived by aunt, Ila Bean, niece, Teresa Goodwin and husband Johnny, of Cookeville, nephews, Mark Dowell and his long-time companion, Carole Graves both of Nashville and Chuck Lemons of Sevierville, TN
Her family will receive friends Thursday 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday 12 noon until time of services at the funeral home.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
