ERMA JUNE DeVORE
Erma June Stickler, daughter of James and Ann Stickler, four child of six children, was born June 21, 1895, in Green City, Mo. She passed away suddenly Jan. 1, 1953 at the home of her son, James Allen DeVore, at the age of 57 years, six months and 11 days.
She was united in marriage to Purley C. DeVore on Feb. 27, 1918, at the home of the Rev. Z. Vance Reed, of Green City, Mo. To this union two sons were born.
She is survived by her husband and sons, Gerald W. DeVore of Alameda, Calif., and James Allen DeVore of Chariton, and four grandchildren. All of her family were present at the time of her death.
She is also survived by two brothers and three sisters, George Stickler of Lincoln, Nebr., Dr. Ralph Stickler and Dr. Lura Struby of Kirksville, Mo., Mrs. Orpha Posey and Mrs. Chloie Porter of Green City, Mo.
The early years were spent in Green City, Mo. After her marriage she moved to a farm near Green City, where she lived for many years. Later, she lived in the Mystic, Plano and Confidence, Iowa communities. For the past 10 years she has lived on a farm north of Cambria.
As a young girl she united with the Presbyterian church of Green City, Mo. She has been very active in the Methodist church of Cambria for the past several years. She has always been active in the Lord's work.
Funeral services, in charge of the Miley Funeral Home, were held at the Presbyterian church of Chariton at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, 1953. The Rev. J. Barker, of the Cambria Methodist church preached the funeral sermon. The pallbearers were her nephews. Interment was in the Chariton cemetery.
