Luanna Dorcas Matilda Stevens, was born July 5, 1857 at Jackson Co., IA. She is the daughter of Artimus C and Amartha A (Allen) Stevens. She came to Polk Co., NE. in a covered wagon with her brother, Jamier Edmund Stevens and his wife Julia.
Julia Stevens' brother, James Theodore Sealey came from IA. to visit and Luanna and James became engaged. They were married on Dec 28, 1875 at Andrew, IA. James Sealey was born Jun 7, 1847 at Five Points, NJ. His parents were John and Mary Sealey.
In 1876, Mr. and Mrs. James T. Sealey came to Polk Co., and homesteaded on 80 acres of land, near the Jamier Edmund Stevens homestead. Here they made their home until 1912 when they retired and moved to Polk.
When a young man James T. Sealey was crossing a river in Iowa when he hit quicksand and was being buried. Struggling to get loose, he promised the Lord that if his life was spared he would serve Him the rest of his days.
Mr. and Mrs. Sealey were charter members of the Polk Methodist Church.
Luanna died May 30, 1916 and James died Mar. 11, 1934. They are buried in the Polk cemetery, near the graves of his parents.
