Alfred Sylvanus Stevens was born Apr 6, 1862 in Jackson Co., IA. Alfred is the son of Artimus C and Amartha (Allen) Stevens. His parents were married by the Justice of the Peace in Crawford Co., Ohio. His parents resided in Ohio until 1856 when they moved to a farm in Richland Township, near Cottonville, IA. Alfred is one of ten children. Alfred died on Feb 6, 1903 at Vilas, SD. He is buried at Graceland Cemetery, Howard, Miner Co., SD
