Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. CST, Saturday, October 7,2006 at Springhill Free Will Baptist Church cemetery, Gordon, Al. withthe Rev. Joseph W Jones officisting. Mrs Mildred Benton Thornton was born aug 10 1926 in Bainbridge,Ga. She was the daughter of the late Hugh Alexander Clinton,Sr and Lela Gertrude Jowers Clinton,was also preceded in death by her first husband, Early James Benton; her second husband Joseph David Thornton; two sons, Edward Anthony Benton and Curtis Lynn Benton; a daughter, Sara Earl Benton; two brothers,G.W. Clinton and Hugh Alexander Clintom,Jr.; and a sister Ossie Mae Bass. She was a homemaker, a member of the Cherokee Tribe in Albany, and of the Baptist faith. While living in Gordon,ala., Mrs Thornton attended the Springhill Free Will Baptist Church. She loved to cook especially cakes and pies, was always canning and perserving food. Mrs Thornton loved her family and caring for them.
