April 10, 1943, when Lois and Ernest lived in Hood Village, Lois decided to take a bus to go to Temple to visit her daughter, Bonnelle. A short time after she boarded the bus, she was seen to stand up suddenly and fell on the floor. The bus driver and other passengers rushed to her aid. Seeing that she had evidently had a heart attack, the bus driver sped the bus to Killen which was only 2 miles from her home. All efforts to revive her were unsuccessful. She was buried in Rosebud, Texas Cemetery, April 12. She was 44 years old.
